james, you cut and pasted a novel... i don't think many people want to read that much.
obviously coerced/tainted confessions = bad. the sad thing, in my mind is, a lot of people do not understand they they do have the right to remain silent and they do have the right to demand counsel - but they are rights you have to invoke, no one is going to hold your hand and say, "are you sure you don't want to talk to a lawyer?" the miranda warning is almost cliche these days - but with the fear of police brutaility, racial profiling, etc. out there i fear that many people are afraid to "cross the line" with cops and demand their constitutional rights.... wow, thats truly sad.
