Talking The Road Less Traveled

The Road Not Taken

Two roads divided into sisterhood,
And sorry I could not travel both
Oh to be a "Soror", long I stood
and looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth

I took the other, as just as fair
Sisterhood, Scholarship, Service they both claimed
But one was "less traveled" and wanted wear,
Though as for that, the "purpose" there
Had made them really about the same

And both before me equally lay
Though the colors were different, the background was Black
I couldn't choose the first for another day!
Knowing how way leads onto way
The sands once crossed, you can never go back.

I shall tell my daughter with a sigh
Somewhere years and years hence
Two roads that led into sisterhood, and I --
I took the one less traveled by,
AND THAT HAS MADE ALL THE DIFFERENCE!

Robert Frost's poem, The Road Not Taken.

I like the poem and thought of a way I could use it with my students when I was talking with them about sororities and why I chose Sigma. Thought I would share my "re-write" with you.
