If it makes you feel any more secure...I am a black female who received a bid from an NPC sorority here in South Carolina. All I had to do was be myself. The girls made it really clear that they liked me for who I was, not necessarily what color my skin happened to be. In turn, I felt like the organization was a wonderful fit for me. I was very comfortable around all the girls, and I would've been proud to wear their letters. Basically what it comes down to is (as others have said) be yourself, and go into recruitment with an open mind. You'll never know until you try!
