I thought this interesting, so I'll put in my lil viewpoint.
Wow, this is a deep question. I am not Greek as of yet, but this makes me wonder, does this process that I hope to undergo, does it form a bond THAT strong? People don't even do this for their family, best friends, spouses, tu sabe?
I don't mean to question anybody's Greek integrity by questioning your processes, this is just coming from someone on the outside.
It's really easy to say you'd go back. But would you really submit yourself to that? Could you bring yourself back to a place where you know you'll probably be starved, beaten, tortured, and raped? Who has the nerve, the courage, or the craziness to do that to themselves? Who will take care of your family while you're gone? But then, how do you live with yourself knowing you left ANY human being behind, whether it's your frat/soror or not?
I am interested to see people's replies. Good question.
