I think that this situation is bigger than Gore at this point, and I don't think he should give up, either. Throughout history, particularly the history of the disenfranchised, the fight has never been easy. This is about justice, respect, and fairness. Although these words are not typically connected with politics, something needs to be done about the fact that so many people voted, and so many of these same people feel like their vote does not count. Will that influence how inspired they are to be proactive and vote in the next national or local election? Sometimes in order to get something done that has a positive collective benefit on the masses, the trailblazer becomes the martyr. If Gore has to assume this responsibility, then unfortunately so be it. I would like to see him in office as much as the next guy, however, if it doesn't happen, let's look at the bright side. Bush will be under such scrutiny, he will be afraid to do almost anything, and that is good! That will limit him to 4 years, and stop him from negatively messing with issues like Roe v. Wade, Affirmative Action, and many other diversity initiatives. Let him sit for 4 years until someone who is not a puppet for his father can take his place and get something done for ALL people!
Sincerely!
Jennifer
