thanks for all the great ideas ADPis! Scholarship is the very reason we are in a sorority at all, so it should be a huge component of the ADPi experience.
Some ideas:
A) make scholarship something you work into conversations at Rush...start at the beginning with the new women who will be your sisters.
B) study hours for the entire sorority, such a simple and effective way of bringing up the gpa. there's truly nothing like actually studying to do the trick.
C) do a time management workshop asap
D) let the 3 or 4 woman in your chapter with the highest gpas run a workshop on how they chose their major, how they choose classes and how they take notes and study
the next two are some big projects that you could do as scholarship chair:
E) as scholarship chair become a resource...do you know how a sister could go about getting a tutor on campus? Do you know about all your school's scholarship opportunities? what about all the advising your college offers. my suggestion is too look at all the materials your college gives to prospective students, they usually list a lot of resources in those materials; resources that many an undergrad never, ever accesses. look into all of them and write up a "handbook" for your chapter
F)pick a woman from each class to be a "scholarship steering committee"
G) learn all about your school's library system, seems silly but this is also an amazing on campus resources that gets used only to sit in and study. many librarians will actually help students organize a research project, or will order books that are needed. Other university libraries offer brief seminars and tours of the facilities at the start of each semester...make sure you know what your library does offer.
good luck and let us know how your chapter proceeds,
Pi love,
violets
