You do the crime, you do the time.

He should not have the ban lifted just to make sure his and others feelings are not hurt. He needs to either be proven innocent or have the sanction lifted by doing what he was asked to do in the first place and fess up. I'm sure the ban wouldn't be in place unless there was a good reason to do so.
