Thanks for your reply, cutiepatootie!
I contacted three groups in this area, and it took awhile for one of the groups to contact me. The woman who did put me off the group right away because she had some negative things to say about the alumnae group in town. I figured if she would say something like that to a prospective, that it didn't speak very highly of the sisterly bonds in that chapter.
I contacted Alpha Phi and another organization on the same day, and like you, got responses on the same day. Right now I'm keeping my options open, but every time I read more about Alpha Phi, and every time I meet a new Alpha Phi, I start to think "this is where I belong!"
I didn't join a sorority as an undergraduate for a lot of different reasons, but mostly I was busy with other student activities, and had lots of friends so I just didn't see the need for a sorority at the time. Then I moved thousands of miles away from home to a place where I didn't know anyone. That's when I realized how important sororities are, so I decided to give AI a try.
That's amazing that you were asked to fill in the form the same night! Oh, if I could only be so lucky! The Alpha Phi that I met with last week kept using terms like "when you're initiated" and "you won't be initiated until the spring", and she told me that she thought I'd fit in really well with their group, but I don't want to read too much into that, you know? I'd hate to get my heart broken.
Anyway, thanks for sharing your story! I'm so glad that you had a happy ending. I hope I get to share a happy ending, too.
I'm curious - when did you tell the other group that you were no longer interested?
