Everyone realizes that it WAs a true story right?

I read the book and the movie was about the first half of the book.

What the movie didn't show was when we got our asses handed to us on the March home.

The movie ends with the soldiers being airlifted out.

What it doesn't show was that the rest of the regiment walked home and while they were strung out on the March the Vietnamese counter attacked and just really wreacked havoc on our forces.

I'll try to dig up the statistics but we lost an awful high percentage of men as our troops were over run on the way home.

If you read the second half of the book, well justamom talks about terror, but the terror of the boys on the march home must have been incredible because they were cut off, over run, bereft of most fire support, seperated from the Company Captain's, and had one really long night to face.

I rented this and sat down to watch with my daughter (who had already seen it). I can see why many would recommend it because it is intense and have no doubt, action packed. I can't give it a thumbs up. I just couldn't finish it because it was so graphic. All I could think about was how terrified those young boys must have been and how horrid war is. As a comparison, I was moved by Saving Private Ryan. This had me so upset I wanted to vomit-literally. It was TOO real for me.
