There are always three sides to every story; your side, their side, and the truth.
Although the previous post (Penngirl1234) shared the story of the chapter in question, it is only their view of the issue.
That is certainly the case. I don't know, and can't understand, why we would have received the ultimatum that we did receive. And we have tried our hardest to revive a chapter that was low in reputation for a couple years even before the oldest girls were initiated (we just didn't know or understand until it was too late). I'm really glad that national has not always made the same mistakes, but what they TOLD us is that by making us all alumni and starting over, they were saving the larger organization. Fine. But if the larger organization truly stood for sisterhood and academic achievement and philanthropy (and fun!), then we should have been given a reward rather than a forced alumni status. And while they may have another side, for whatever reasons, they did give us a situation in which we had three options. 1) do the impossible (which is why our Panhel supports our decision... they understand how our campus works) and add 30 non-freshman women in a week without any monetary or human support from national, 2) become alumni, or 3) disaffiliate from Phi Sig. I understand that these women from national are not uncaring or "bad" women, but they made some mistakes with us that ended up hurting their sisters and hurting our campus' Greek system. And our recent alumni and advisors are disgusted as well, because they saw the same thing we did. So I understand that National doesn't ALWAYS make these mistakes, but please just don't try to make us defend our actions when we were crying the entire time we made the decision to close the chapter.
