I have two, one from this year, one from my freshman year...

This year, I was seeing a Sigma Chi when semi-formal came around. I was so excited, because not only was it the first time that I actually had a good date, but one of his other brothers was invited and I ended up inviting another one of his brothers as a blind date for someone else. We had this great night planned, dinner at the Melting Pot, etc... Well, we get to dinner, and knowing we had to catch the bus, we didn't eat dessert, that we had already pre-paid for (dinner was $100/couple!) so that we could get back in time for the bus. Well, we ran back to the Sig hall to grab some of our stuff, and as we're leaving I get this call... the bus hit a tree and is stuck in mud, WITH our sisters on it! (We took the same bus, two trips) Well, they say that it's going to be another 30 minutes at least until they can send another bus, so since it was raining and cold and we all had sleeveless dresses, we went back to the Sigma Chi hall to wait for the bus, and told people to call us when the bus came. Well, they did, and as soon as they called, we ran the 100 feet to where the bus was waiting... just in time to see it drive off! Needless to say, we didn't make it to semi-formal (which was on a boat). We ended up having a pretty good time, but I still hated that we spent all that money for nothing.

The second experience is at a fraternity's formal. Down here formal's are weekend-long with fraternities, and one of my friends was dating a guy from this one fraternity (I won't tell which one to protect the innocent ) and set me up with this guy. Well, I had just broken up with my other fraternity boyfriend, so wasn't really up for dating, but I went anyway as long as the guy was cool. Well, I was told this about a year later, but this guy happened to be the one guy that noone can figure out how he got a bid (including the brothers) and the president actually said, "He doesn't fit in with us." I had a miserable weekend, couldn't stand the guy, and even though I had a fun time with the rest of the people there, some of the guys were mad that I didn't end up dating this guy... which doesn't make sense factoring in the "he doesn't fit in with us" comment. Anyway... my advice to all SC GC'ers... don't go on beach/mountain weekend with a blind date!!!! ALWAYS meet the guy first... because you're stuck with them for three days whether you like them or not!
