Something very similar is happening at my campus....a group of girls want to start a sorority, even though their creation will almost certainly destroy at least one of the existing sororities on campus. When someone asked them why they would want to start a group that would hurt other sororities, one of them actually used the term "survival of the fittest"--very Panhellenic.
