I don't know that I think of "period" as the technical cycle anymore--seems like these days we just treat it as an irritating number of days having to deal with extra hygiene. so I'd say having a 'period' in the sense that there's blood and you're dealing with it is possible even if it's not the whole ovulation ordeal; I've read that you can bleed monthly up to like 6 months and have it be normal (I recommend a book called "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" and I think that that's the first thing women should be experts on--their own bodies!!). Prolly lighter than usual though as others have said.
And I must add that I, too, was impressed by that male chronicle of a woman's reproductive cycle
