I applied to four schools...
1. My first choice, where I am now.
2. The College of William and Mary.
3. Emory.
4. The University of Florida.

I applied to Florida because I am from FL and would have gotten a full merit scholarship IN ADDITION to the Florida prepaid deal. In my mind, of course, Florida was at the BOTTOM of the list. I had no desire to go to college with half of my HS class (keep in mind, my class was 40 people). I only applied "in case" I didn't get into my other three choices. I applied to my first choice early action, so as early as December, I was a lot more laidback about my decision.

Anyway, the long and the short of it was that I got into all four, and I chose my first choice. I guess I'm really lucky that everything worked out for me, and that I wasn't afraid about going all the way to my college alone (ie, without anyone from my town or region of the state!). I'm also really lucky that I love my school so much. I know that I would have had a less enjoyable experience at the other schools because my school is so different politically and academically from the other ones. I can't imagine myself in the South for anything! I KNOW I wouldn't have gone Greek. I know that there's no way I could have had fully funded research for my thesis and met with my advisor once a week during my freshman year at Florida, WM, or Emory (maybe W&M, but the other ones are sooo big).

Now I'm applying to graduate schools in architecture. This time, I was smart about it and didn't apply to a single school that I didn't want to attend.
