That sounds like a terrific idea. I wish I were able to be there, but it gives me a great idea for the area I live in. The West Virginia Public school system is very poor, this kind of event could not only bring communities together, but help raise money/supplies etc for the school system. I live in a town of about 2,000. This past spring, about a week before school was out, 3 kids broke into the middle school in our small town and set fire to it (these are 5th and 6th grade children). The fire caused over 6 million dollars in damage. Now the school still stands as it did the night that it burned. This school was not only a place for learning, but it was a historic part of the town which was built after the depression by Eleanor Roosevelt (who the town was then named after). It saddens me everyday to drive by on my way to work and see the children now walking to 'portable' school buildings located in the front yard of the rubble that used to be their small school. This kind of event could help the teachers (who had to dip into their own pockets to pay for the decorations/bulitin boards/supplies)be reimbursed and help them to aquire more supplies and help with the clean up of the old school to make way for the rebuilding of a new school.
