It's not valid. "Zee" is the Greek pronunciation. (Actually, to be even more correct, the Greek pronunciation is "Ksee"). "Zi" is the anglicized/American pronunciation. Same thing with F as "Fie" or "Fee" (and, for that matter, with P, C, and Y, too.)

X is the Greek equivalent of the English "X," as in "xylophone" (from the Greek xulofwno, pronounced KSEE-lo-fo-no).
