I'm bringing this topic back up because I am dealing with really noisy neighbors. I live on the first floor and we're having trouble with our upstairs neighbors. The staircase for their apartment is right next to my bedroom. It's wooden so it makes a lot of noise when they walk on it. That's fine and I'm understanding of that. But, the guy who lives above us is about 300 pounds and on his way to work at 6am, he likes to run down the stairs causing our whole apartment to shake. They enjoy playing their bass at all times of the day and have loud conversations late at night. We were told by our landlord that there is four inches of concrete between our apartment and theirs so it's ridiculous that we hear them. And, we hear things that we really, really, really wish that we couldn't hear (ie- moaning, screaming). They use to have roommates (me and my roomie got along really well with them) but they ended up moving out because of unresolved issues between them and the other couple they were living with. Our apartment complex detests our neighbors because they've caused all sorts of problems.
My roomie and I have mentioned several times to them that the noise level needs to be taken down some (and we've always been nice about it) but we've had the door slammed in our face each time. We made an official complaint with our apartment complex but that got our neighbors riled up even more. They're been purposely slamming the door and running down the staircase. They had a party last night and me and my roomie both had to be up early for work. My roomie started banging on the wall to get them to be quiet. We both saw them early this morning as we were leaving for work. We gave them dirty looks (couldn't help it....we don't like them). My roomie went to the leasing office an hour ago to say something to the landlord about the party our neighbors were having only to find out that our neighbors wrote a noise complaint on us. They cited us for banging on the walls and BEING RUDE. They said that we were rude because we gave them dirty looks in the morning. The apartment complex thought it was hilarious (luckily, they're on our side).
We couldn't help it, our neighbors were outside at 8am riding on a unicycle and throwing fire batons. WE HAVE CARNIES FOR NEIGHBORS!!!!! Of course we gave them weird looks!!!!
So, we have a meeting set up with them for this Friday to work out our differences. Sigh....this should be interesting.
