Name your GLO
Beta Theta Pi
Describe your badge and new member pin
Member badge: An eight sided grecian shield of gold and black enamel. At the top of the badge are three stars of gold. Below is a diamond surrounded by a laurel wreath of greenish gold. The Greek letters of Beta Theta and Pi follow, and at the bottom of in Greek is 1839 symbolizing the year of our founding. On the back, at the top is the chapter seal, below clasped hands, and then the owners name and initiation date.
Pledge pin: Also an eight sided grecian shield. Made of white enamel, it has three stars of gold that extend from the upper left to the lower right.
Where can you wear your badge? (does it have to be over the heart, is a suit jacket ok or does it have to be on the blouse/shirt, if you're wearing other pins (like an Order of Omega pin) do they have to be below your badge, etc)
"The standard badge of the Fraternity is to be worn over the heart and in a manner befitting the honor and dignity to which the badge is entitled." I personally frown upon wearing it on a suit jacket, and also when not wearing a dress shirt, but I saw many alumni wearing it with polo shirts at convention...
As for other pins, there seems to be no standard, some of our guys wear them below, others next to but the Beta badge is always made most prominent.
Do you require new members to wear their pins at all times?
No they are to wear it in the same manner as the standard badge in our chapter.
Can you attach anything to your badge? (chapter guard, etc)Probably but I have never seen anyone do it, so status quo would dictate that it doesn't happen
Can you use a badge buddy?
Since I didn't know what it was until now, I go with no
Can you make your badge into a pendant or ring?
Absolutely not.
What other official jewelry does your GLO have? (president's ring, award pins, mother's/father's pins, sweetheart pins, etc)
There is a specific badge worn by the chapter president. It is called the Kirby badge and is larger than the standard badge, and has more detail work along the border. There are also Mother's pins, a house mothers pin, and an official ring.
