Tracy's Cool Eighties Experience...
A long spiral perm with poofy bangs that fell
just so over my right eye. And the left side sprayed (frozen!) back with Spritz Forte.
Jeans (pinstriped or stonewashed or with a floral pattern) that were so tight around the ankles they were hard to pull on. I STILL practically have to force myself to buy flared pants
Beads, lots of 'em
High heeled pumps and ankle socks
Wearing 3 or 4 SwatchWatches at once, complete with Swatch Guards of course!
"Disco bags", small satin drawstring pouches with long cords that were used as purses.
Alligator Shirts
Side ponytails
My ultra-modern graphite tennis racquet (I think they carry them at Target now)
Sweatshirt dresses from Express; worn with big, dangly earrings also from Express
Guess jean jackets festooned with pins of every kind
Cutting off the legs of tights and using them as headbands
Black eyeliner. Lots of it.
"Bubble dresses"
"The Prairie Look" (sadly, I think it's making a comeback)
Mini skirts worn with ankle boots and slouch socks
Jansport backpacks
Freddy Kreuger
Flashdance (the first big movie filmed in my hometown of Pittsburgh. People who lived there were confused by some scenes in the movie..."why are they dancing in the Carnegie museum?" "Why did she take the Incline up Mt. Washington but end up on the South Side?" "How did she learn to weld at such a young age?")
"Forever" by Judy Blume. We thought it was SO racy! I re-read it a few months back and thought, "What a piece of crap!"
That's it for now
