Describe your badge and new member pin
The member pin is a quill with the Greek letters on the feather. (I've heard people say it looks like a toothbrush.) You can get it in silver or gold and with a row or pearls or diamonds on the rib of the quill. Our new member pin is probably the least mystically symbolic of anyone's - it's the letters on a black-enameled "football" shape! The only "meaning" is in the letters - the shape is decorative.
Where can you wear your badge?
"Your Quill is worn on dresses, blouses or sweaters. It may be worn on the lapel of a suit, but is not worn with sportswear such as shorts or jeans." Other pins must be worn below it.
Do you require new members to wear their pins at all times?
No. They have the same rules as members do for attire.
Can you attach anything to your badge? (chapter guard, etc)
"Wear the guard either below the Quill or to the left of the feathers of the Quill. Dangles representing involvement in the chapter or national organization may be added to guard chains. Nothing is worn above the Quill or new member pin. For example, if you accept a man's fraternity pin, place it beneath the Quill."
Can you use a badge buddy?
Never heard of them before, so I doubt it.
Can you make your badge into a pendant or ring?
Yes. Our official jeweler sells them. Well, it doesn't make a good ring because of its shape, but pendants, yes.
What other official jewelry does your GLO have?
Mother's and father's pins, colony pin (like the NM pin with a chain link around it and no enamel), the president's medallion (national president), recognition Quill (tiny unlettered version of badge worn on outer coats), honor key (used to be a ring with a sphinx on it but they changed it to a crest charm), 25-year charm; and Order of the Rose/Pearl/Diamond (years of membership; you can get a Pearl pendant too). You can buy rings, etc. with the crest on them, but I don't think they're "official."
