Re: Badge rules?

Name your GLO

Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity

Describe your badge

The stones -- twelve pearls and six garnets placed as shown -- are standard. For years, the Fraternity has offered a badge with a scroll border and no stones, but consideration is now being given to discontinue that option, since the stones form part of the official design.

and probationary member pin

(It's just the triangle, shown here on a black background.)

Where can you wear your badge?

“Nearest the heart.” By tradition, it can be worn on dress shirts, vests, or pullover sweaters, but not on coat lapels, collars, ties, the watch pockets of vests, coat sweaters, or T-shirts.

Do you require new members to wear their pins at all times?

That varies with chapters, I think. Back in the day, my chapter did.

Can you attach anything to your badge? (chapter guard, etc)

We can (and typically do) use chapter guards. I know that officer dangles are available from our official jeweler (Burr Patterson & Auld), but I've never actually seen a brother wear one.

Can you use a badge buddy?

No. A black ribbon can be worn behind the badge as a sign of mourning, and some chapters have their probationary members wear a small ribbon of red, black or gold behind their probationary member pin at certain times -- this is connected with Fraternity education programs.

Can you make your badge into a pendant or ring?

We don't have a regulation on this, but it would certainly be unusual and frowned upon. We have rings available.

What other official jewelry does your GLO have? (president's ring, award pins, mother's/father's pins, sweetheart pins, etc)

Once upon a time we had sweetheart badges, but I don't know if they are still available. We have no distinctive officer badges or pins.
