I am a member of a national service sorority but we do not have a national rule about drinking with letters on. Each chapter has their own rules. As for our chapter, sisters/pledges cannot wear letters, shirts, pins, lavaliers, or anything else that has the letters or the crest on it if they are drinking or at a club/bar. This means even if YOU are NOT drinking. Anyone who is caught violating this rule is placed on social probation. We do this out of respect for our sorority (this is OUR way of doing things, but I am not saying that if your org allows letters to be worn that there is something wrong with your org., just sharing what we do).
