Amen to that!
I would also like to salute the European way of doing things. They keep their thermostats low because energy is so expensive. When I was living in Firenze, the temperature in our apartment was never higher than about 62º F. We drank lots of warm beverages, wore socks, layers, sweaters, and everybody slept under nice, warm, down comforters.
Then I got home to freezing Wisconsin and found that my family was sitting with the thermostat near 75º F. I was roasting! I walked around in shorts and tank tops with bare feet. At night I can't sleep if it's warm, so I'd actually have to crack open a windown in my bedroom to cool the room down to the temperature at which I needed it.
I have a wonderful pair of silk long underwear. From November 'til March I wear them under just about everything at school because the wind goes right through you here during the winters. I also wear a scarf most of the time, indoors and out.
And, of course, I'm all about snuggling.
