I think this site is freakin' hilarious. Some people are kinda sensitive when it comes to these matters, and while I have been in my share of race-related um...
discussions here on GC, I AM a light-hearted individual about most things.
I don't think this site has the blinding ignorance of other things that get people fired up, I just think it pokes fun at a subject that most people are scared to talk about.
Honeykiss, you score MAJOR, MAJOR points for bring Roland into the mainstream! LOL!!
Achtung, I think THAT subject might be a little more touchy. I think this opinion might spark a debate, but oh well, lol. GC needs some drama.
There is a growing disdain in the Black community about becoming TOO Eurocentric and essentially trying to assimilate into the culture that white America has deemed "proper." When I say "white America" I do not mean each individual white person, I mean the majority in this country who dictate what our overall culture is supposed to be. It is somewhat of a paradox because Blacks are told that they should "fit in" and "speak properly" and just live up to a standard of whiteness in general. That is not only impossible but also impractical, because Blacks (as a WHOLE, not on an individual level) are systematically excluded from society, anyway. Does this makes sense?
Okay, I am done, lol. Let he flames commence.
