I saw the MTV special as well. I think it's important to state that ANY surgery performed for ANY reason has the potential to be deadly. Complications arise all the time. People seem so focused on getting a quick fix that they sometimes don't seriously consider the possible consequences of their actions.
Personally, I don't have a problem with gastric bypass when used for dramatic weight loss in the morbidly obese. I think people need to understand that it's major surgery and that the weight can be gained back.
When I watched the MTV special, I thought the girl who had the gastric bypass was really the only one on the show who had a legitimate need for surgery. The two girls and the calf guy were just vain.
Oh, and the reason calf guy was single has nothing to do with his calves and EVERYTHING to do with the fact that he was a cocky jerk.
