xp2k--for starters, the article that ran last year about tri sigma was mainly wrong information. it supposedly went to press when it shouldnt have. tri sigma wasnt 100% approved, it was only that panhel had voted to allow a new sorority to come to campus.

to everyone else--i am with lindsay in the group of girls thats been working to try and get tri sigma to come. i went last semester with julie (the earlier mentioned main girl) to all of the meetings with our greek life director, stan, and its been a tough process with not much getting accomplished. there are feelings amongst those of us involved that stan is not doing much in way of getting this going. we have not heard from julie in weeks, so it is to be assumed that he hasnt contacted her about anything. it really is insane, because IU definitely needs another sorority. our recruitment numbers are incredible, usually 1500-2000 sign up for recruitment, and it ends up with something like around 800 getting bids (19 houses...i think quota is around 45 most of the time), and while a good number of those girls drop on their own, there has to be at least 100 if not 200 girls who get cut, or cross cut. and i bet there are girls like me who dropped because the houses they got asked back to, they did not feel like that was their place to be. and i really dont think anyone should join a house, just to join one.

and as lindsay said before, yes, tri sigma had apparently contacted IU in october of last year, expressing interest in recolonigizing here at IU, and nothing was done with that until julie approached stan in january about brining a new group to campus. i feel that people here are sitting on their hands about bringing a new sorority, and im not sure why. as xp2k said, we are getting more and more fraternities every year...and that is NOT the case with sororities. when we met with stan in september, he was saying that if everything went according to plan, tri sigma could hope to colonize in spring semester, but i highly doubt that will happen now...who knows! IU needs another sorority!!!
