UIUC rush is pretty tiring! We have recruitment in the fall, right at the beginning of the school year. The first stage is Open House, where you go to all the houses- that alone takes one and a half days! First Invite takes up a day, Second Invite the whole afternoon and evening, and Third Invite (Pref Night) lasts the whole night. The taxation of it all can be hurtful on numbers- lots of girls drop out after Open House, the hardest stage of all. A good recruitment counselor tells her girls to take extensive notes on each house (names of girls, clothes worn, personal opinions, house, what went on, conversation topics) so that she doesn't get them confused. I know more than one girl who had a problem keeping AEPhi, Alpha Phi, AOII, and ADPi straight, just because of their names!

Our size also means that rush can be pretty cutthroat for numbers. Luckily, it also means that almost any girl who rushes will be guaranteed a bid somewhere on campus! It also means a lot of drama between houses and often there is a very cliquey attitude which I could do without. Panhel meetings are also a source for lots of drama and lots of production- while PHC/IFC often get a lot of stuff done on campus (especially philanthropy wise) it's not always fun and games. I'm good friends with our panhel rep and she says meetings can be very stressful!
