Just thought I would stop by and post some of my thoughts. I'm really happy to see LSU considering expansion. I am not in a NPC sorority here at LSU but I do know many girls who are members of the 10 NPC sororities on campus. I know their pledge class sizes are outrageous. I also see how cutthroat and vicious formal rush can be. I always consider adding new groups to the existing ones is a good idea. I wish both groups the best of luck.
My only problem is with the housing situation. My sorority has been on campus since 1989. We are not a big group by any means but we are still very much involved in greek life at LSU. We used to have a "house" on campus...LSU let us rent out an old apartment in one of the office buildings for a few years. We gave it up a few years back because of various problems. So now here we are looking very seriously for a house. We have been doing so ever since I was a new member of my sorority. We have been promised time and time again that if a house opens up we will be first on the list for that house. So the Delta Chi house opened up last semester (I think...cant really remember) and we've been given the run around about that. Now I'm hearing that the new group will get that house ahead of us. It's just disappointing to hear this sort of stuff. I feel that my sorority could really benefity from having a house but time and time again we get passed over. So I guess I just have mixed feelings about all of this. I'll continue to support the expansion but it just leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth that we're getting passed over in the process.
Sorry for the rant.
