James,
I wasn't saying it was bad that she wanted a "different" sorority experience than the other members... I was saying she didn't want a sorority experience at all. It was pretty apparent to all the chapters that she just wanted a group that she could "use" so that she had somewhere to go eat lunch (because she lived an hour from campus). ALL she wanted to do was stop by during the day... she said she didn't want to join a group where she would have to go to meetings -- but you have to do that in all of them.
The guy in the story was going through the new member period... attending meetings, hanging out, etc... I think it is very different.
