[Shark In Skirt]

HEY EVERYONE!

I just got back from rush about an hour ago.... Wow, that was so much fun! We visited all six houses. Just a reminder, here are the sororities on campus:

Alpha Chi Omega
Sigma Kappa
Gamma Phi Beta
Kappa Kappa Gamma
Delta Gamma
Pi Beta Phi

And in RANDOM order, here is what I thought of the GLOs:

GLO #1: I really, really liked this house!! I talked to alot of the girls, who were all really awesome. I think they did the best job of making sure that I was "rotated" enough, but not too much... the conversation never once lagged with any of the girls I spoke with. Most of the time I was rushed by more than one girl.

GLO #2: I had met a few of these girls before at fraternity parties, and I really liked them. They were all really excited about rush and again, I had no problem making conversation with them. Again, alot of the time I was rushed by more than one girl.

GLO #3: This is one of the very top houses on campus, and I really, really, really wanted to love them... I just didn't really click with them. I think its pretty much because the first impression I got was really, really bad... I was first rushed by a girl who basically told me that she didn't like rush because its too "loud" and it involves alot of "jumping and yelling" and that she doesn't like girls who are "hyper" or "perky." I was just like, "Errrmmmm... you're going to hate me then!" Anyway, I think she might've been a fluke or something because she didn't fit the general "look" of the house, and she certainly was not HALF as nice as the next three girls I talked with. Again, I liked this chapter alright, but I thought I'd be in love with them, and I wasn't... so it was pretty disappointing.

GLO #4: This is probably the least popular chapter on campus...However, I definitely went in with an open mind, because after all... you can't always trust what fraternity guys have to say! I just did not click with these girls at all. The first girl who rushed me basically had nothing to say to me, but then really wouldn't let anybody else talk to me either. Finally I basically grabbed one of her sisters and brought her into our (non-)conversation. I really could not wait for the fourty-five minutes to be over... it was pretty painful. I just really felt like this GLO thought rush was something to muddle through with... their decorations were not as nice as any of the other houses, the girls seemed sort of down, and it just all around wasn't a great experince.

GLO #5: TOTALLY LOVE THESE GIRLS!! Without giving too much away, I knew from the beginning that I would. This is absolutely where I felt most at home, and the girls I talked to were soooo wonderful!! One of them told me that she loved how I was so "proper" and that I actually knew what a "Potential New Member" was... And I have Greek Chat to thank for that!! Their decorations were really cute and their outfits were adorable... This was by far my favorite house, but that's no surprise!

GLO #6: It was the end of the day, so I was pretty tired out, and I know that these girls were tired out also... Again I had the problem of being rushed by a girl who didn't have alot to say to me, but really wouldn't let any other girl converse with me either. I did, however, end up grabbing a girl who turned out to be so great... she's friends with a huge group of Greek guys that I was fortunate enough to meet. We clicked pretty well, but all around, I wasn't too impressed with the chapter.

Tomorrow is Philantropy Day, and assuming that I get invited back to all 6 or even 5, I have to cut it down to 4. I'm going to pick up my invites at 9:00 AM tomorrow......... say a little prayer for me tonight!

Rush was such a great experince, and I totally appreciate how much effort the girls put into the whole thing... I really, really am looking forward to tomorrow!!
