So's the vagina. It has a low pH, (usually about 4.5-5.0), whereas the skin has a nearly neutral pH (about 6.5-7). Vaginal secretions contain lactic acid, which helps keep the vagina clean. The pH of lemon juice is 4.0, so that's not out of the realm of possibility.
If it really does work, think of what this could do for contraception and disease prevention in third world countries.
Also, cotton balls come in various sizes. You can get big ones. Honest.
Still, I'd rather not rely on this 100% for my personal contraception and disease protection until it's been studied more.
