Probate

Cacophonies of silence fill this place
My eardrums burst with every muted shout
Though fear shall not appear upon my face

I represent the thousands of my race
Who know the pain of which I talk about
Cacophonies of silence fill this place

And I daren’t move; not even for a pace
New families could quickly cast me out
Though fear shall not appear upon my face

Seven stand, though more began the race
Seven strong – weary, but still stout
Cacophonies of silence fill this place

From bloody anchor to the bloody ace
Our grit – do not mistake it for a pout
Though fear shall not appear upon my face

I march across the sands bearing the mace
Who knows the pain of which I talk about?
Cacophonies of silence fill this place
Though fear shall not appear upon my face
