This double standard totally applies for girls and boys! So many of my guy friends have girlfriends stay the night (even in high school, in their PARENTS' house!) and their parents don't bat eyelash at it. But for me, my sorority sisters and girl friends, our parents NEVER allow that. My boyfriends have always stayed in the guest room if they were at my parents' house...
I don't know what my parents think when new they meet a new boy of mine, but they are so conservative that I am sure they never even imagine that I would be doing anything naughty with him (maybe they know and are in denial). I think they do think more long-term, as in "maybe she will marry this one."
