My chapter just recolonized last year and we held quite a few different COB activities the whole time. The way it worked for us is that we would plan some type of informal event (One time we had Karaoke and other times it was as simple as having people over to watch Friends) and invite friends who we thought might be interested in the house over for the activities. They were always very informal and were just a good way to meet new women. We would have to see a woman a certain number of times (each GLO has a certain number for COB I think, and I'm pretty sure that it varies) we would be able to offer her a bid
If you're interested in joining the new GLO, definitely go for it!!! I don't regret joining mine that way at all. While we mostly were freshmen, we did have a few upperclassmen also join, and their guidance with how the University works and stuff like that is soooooo apreciated! There are also awesome leadership opportunities that are available that ordinarily wouldn't be available to first or second year members. The downside is that at times it can seem like alot more work than other women in the other houses have (but its totally worth it!!)
If you're interested in the new GLO, definitely keep your eyes open for advertising around your campus next year and go to as many of the events they offer as possible.
Hope that answers your questions! :-)
