I'd have to say yea housework is depressing because there are sooooo many other fun things that you could be doing!!!
while it may be "depressing".. sometimes it is just one of those things...
me for example, i cannot sit at my desk and study if my room is a mess.. i will go crazy... so i ALWAYS make sure my room is spot-free and i can see that bald guy on my floor before i can sit down and study..
i don't know why.. but yea.. i'm like that
