Making them smaller/lighter is part of the problem. You take away the big antenna and somehow your reception drops off

. If you are having difficulty with your phone I'd recommend you try a larger model. For Sprint I've heard the Sanyo 4900 priced between $149 and $179 depending on location is superb.
