After pref parties, I changed clothes and went to the bar with a couple of guys I know. One of them is friends with the girl who had rushed me, and saw her in the bar. Of course, this is the absolute strict silence period, so I could not go talk to her, even if we did not discuss rush.
After he talked to her, he came up to me and said "Oh, my friend told me she rushed you today."
I was like "Ohmygod what did she say???"
"Well, she really liked you, but she was pretty sure you were going to go XYZ."
I was freaking out at this point, so I just walked right up to her (knowing voting was done, but not realizing that bid lists could still be changed, as they were not due at Panhellenic until the next morning) and said
"So, did you bid me?"
You all should have seen the look on her face! Obviously she knew the strict silence rules, but she didn't think any PNR would actually say something like that. She just stammered out some answer about how she wasn't really sure how all the bid matching worked, but she had given me the highest score she could.
Well, the good news is she is now my roommate, best friend, and sister.
But I wouldn't recommend this tactic to anyone else.
