you can attend no more than 2 or 3 pref parties (depending on your school), and these 2 or 3 houses should be the ones that you list first on your pref card. it is HIGHLY unlikely that a sorority that cut you in earlier rounds would end up having a place for you in their pledge class. it is basically pointless to list these houses first. the ones whose pref parties you attended are the places that you have a real chance of getting into. they kept inviting you back, so they are obviously interested in you (even if they ARE one of the "cool" houses).
so here's what i'm saying--you should put down the houses whose pref parties you attended as your top choices... don't put a house that cut you after the first night as your top choice... no matter how cool or beautiful or whatever you think those girls are. they CUT you... that's a pretty clear expression of their lack of interest.
you maximize your chance of getting a bid if you list houses that want you... houses demonstrate that they want you by having you to prefs.
if you put down at least 2 or 3 sororities on your pref card that you'd be willing to join, there is a really good chance that you'll have a place in one of these houses. suiciding is always a bad idea since it can be really hard (even for the sisters) to predict what will happen when bids are matched.
your best bet is to list any house you'd be willing to join, with your top 2-3 choices being the houses that you attended on pref night.
