I think we should explain what silence is to the pnm's, so they dont think that those who chose to be silent are ignoring them-I will try to explain it the way it is at my university

Silence is when active members do not divulge wich sorority they are in, therfore they can not influence a PNM's decision on which house to go for.Unfortunantly, if you have an XYZ in a class who you used to talk to all the time, now-she wont be able to be quite as talkative, but please don't take it the wrong way, that is just what silence is. The Rho Chi's, who are the reps from the sororities, usually a grad student, who guide you through rush week, have the strictest silence, they are unable to spend ANY time with there house as to not influence the actives on who to choose. The rushees themselves also observe silence, by not talking about the sorority they have visited or wish to join to the other rushees. I myself will observe 'silence' as to not influence any lady in any way. This should let all the PNM's know how important and how serious it is to choose the house YOU feel most comfortable with, therefore you cannot be swayed by peer pressure or anything else. To some, silence seems silly, but I think it is something to be held to great respect, and I will choose to respect silence as well. Good Luck ladies and gentlemen about to rush. We all from GC wish you the best of luck, and know you will find the right house.
All actives, please add to this if your school is different. I know how I felt with silence during rush! And good luck to all the actives, hope your numbers are filled with wonderful quality people!
Although I must say, good luck to the AOPI's!!!
