I am one of those people. Please do not get on an escalator behind me and yell at me. I will be frozen on the step in front of you because I am terrified of escalators, especially those that go down. This, along with the fact that I have bad knees and was told to avoid staircases at the age of 16, makes me one of those people who ride the elevator one floor up or down at times.
I fell down one going to the subway in DC when I was 8, and it scarred me for life.
