We start rush a couple days before classes, so we actually finish once classes have started. During the summer, we have about 5 freshmen orientations. At the orientations, the incoming freshies have the chance to go to the greek life meeting and pick up a rush application. I hate this process. A lot of times, the meeting is scheduled during some important placement test, or the meeting is not well advertised so people don't know about it, or people think they don't want to rush, so they don't go to the meeting, then 2 weeks after orientation change their mind, but then it's too late. This process is starting to affect the numbers during rush, yet our greek life chair refuses to listen to repeated suggestions of mailing the rush book out to all incoming freshies. This is how all the other large schools in the state do it. I also think that when people are wary about rushing, getting the rush book in the mail and reading over it may change their mind. I am still working hard to get our current process changed.
