Unless you're in a business program (my sister is in one of those and must wear a SUIT -3 pieces, skirt jacket and shirt with shoes polished, that stuff is serious) it's anything goes, at least on my campus. Some women try to act like they have no home training, showing everything everywhere, but usually they are cured of that within the first week! More often you see peeps who look like they just stepped off the Vogue pages. And yeah, for the 8AM classes you will see the pj pants and wild hair. Since there are a lot of people with internships and/or hooked with the $$, I see a lot of business attire (suits! aaah!), or Banana Republic Casual. The big joke around here is black pants: everyone has a pair.

I guess I'm the opposite of everyone else; my freshman year I was an athlete, so my entire wardrobe was jeans and t-shirts. If it was winter, the t-shirt sleeves were long. Maybe occasionally a sweatshirt. Don't forget the comfy gym shoes for walking/running all over campus. Oh... and I wore my hair always in colorful wraps, in braids, or in my teeny weeny afro.

After I got my job and started talking to my man, (yes I admit it he had an influence) I worked up to where I am now, the business casual. Generally, nice shirts, always pressed, and nice pants. If I wear jeans, they look nice, not the saturday jeans. I'll wear comfy dress shoes or reeeeallly clean sneakers. In the winter I get more formal with the sweaters and stuff.

But generally just dress as if you would run into your mother or grandmother or father or someone you RESPECT and want to respect YOU... you never know, you just might...

that's my $.02
