I've helped GC'ers with recs. I agree with you- a rec is very serious and important. I won't write one up unless the girl mails me her resume. Then I write a letter of introduction to the advisor of that school letting them know I do not know this girl personally but I am basing my recommendation on her outstanding resume and the enthusiasm she has shown for recruitment. I leave out that we met on a internet chat room for Greeks- I love GC to death but who knows what an 80 year old advisor from Mississippi will think of that!
