I do agree with his refusal to forget the way Vietnam veterans were treated upon their return to this country. Whether or not we should have been there, so many men gave the ultimate sacrifice (and so many more are haunted, physically and emotionally) for their country. I have to admit that the war protesters, in some cases, acted horribly.
BUT...some of the contents of this forward scared me. No one knows what happened in those four planes...whether or not those people were overpowered. Maybe this is a strong comparison, but it's almost like saying a rape victim "allowed him/herself to be overpowered by his/her attacker." Just a but presumptuous. Asking why the Jews didn't fight back? Whoa. Maybe he should read some early 20th century European history before he asks another question like that. It's almost like asking, "Why didn't all the slaves escape?"
He seems to have a lot of hangups about the Clinton administration. One wonders whether 9/11 had happened under a Democratic administration, if he and his ilk would have done the same thing they accuse the "liberal media" of doing--bashing the President and Congress. Just food for thought. It's very easy to be loyal to the government when your guy is in charge, isn't it?
Personally, if I never see the picture of the second plane slamming into the tower for the rest of my life, I will never get that image out of my head--it will haunt me for the rest of my life. Just because it's not being aired on TV every day doesn't mean it doesn't have an indelible mark on so many people. I knew that 9/11/02 would be saturated with that coverage on TV that I chose not to watch it. You can't blame the media for your decision not to turn off the TV.
