I have only done recs for people going to alma mater. I have been in email contact with these girls and they send me their resumes. I by NO means write a letter to my chapter, saying "Hey this girl is soooo awesome" and I don't think any of the girls I have helped would expect me to do that since we haven't actually met. I simply fill out the form and send their info and picture along with it so that my chapter will not have to fool with it on the last night of rush. I make sure they know that all the info I have is based on what the rushee gives me and just let them know that this may be a girl they want to take a look at.
