Y'all, I have a pretty funny story kinda pertaining to this topic. I stay at school during the summer. I hate my hometown, so I stay in Charleston and work. There are 4 freshman orientations during the summer. My boyfriend's fraternity likes to throw parties during the orientations. It's a kinda welcome to ChuckTown - prerush freshman guys - scope out the new freshman chickies kinda thing. I go b/c I'm not one to miss out on a good party! Anyhow, I like to talk to the incoming girls and find out if they are going through rush. They usually ask what sorority I'm in (ZTA), but then I try to just talk generally about greek life and the rush process. (I don't want to get in trouble for dirty rushing, ya know?) Anyhow, in June I was talking to this one girl, and she asked me what I was. When I told her, she goes (get this), "Oh, I heard Zetas were whores." I couldn't believe she said that! Yeah, she was drunk, but still. Use your head stupid girl! So I said, "Hmm, that's news to me. I was under that impression that we were known as the loud girls who know how to have a good time." And I went on to say other good things about my chapter (besides, we truly are not any more morally casual than any other greek or independent girls on campus). So finally she says, "Wow, y'all sound pretty cool, and I like you...I wanna be a Zeta! I wanna be a whore!" I was like, honey, you won't be a Zeta if I have anything to do with it. My boyfriend heard the whole conversation, and couldn't stop laughing. That girl was just an idiot, but I made a point to remember her name and hometown so I can tell my sisters what she said.

So, see, you never know what kinda trouble listening to stereotypes can get you in!
