I read the article and while I understand that this is an online publication, I did not like the "interview." That interview was on the caliber of what my laziest 9th grader would write. The questions are trite, basic and the responses are even worse. I love the bruhs and I know they have that "image" but now was the time to step up that image and enlighten folks about the work that Omega Psi Phi does. The response about what it takes to be an Omega -- while i understand that this was not a smoker or informational, why did they not mention the SERVICE that prospective members must have.
I just find it incredible that an organization that I have so much respect for that has GROWN since becoming a Delta, had such a less than profound article written up. I know someone is saying is it that serious and I have to say emphatically YES IT IS. There is so much more to Omega Psi Phi than the QUE DAWG (IMO). I teach high schoolers and the other day they asked about fraternities and sororities. I mentioned all D9 in order and did not even take the time to gloat about being a DELTA (not yet anyways

) but over the past 5 years of teaching and being a DELTA, so many more students know the "party" side of ALL D9 orgs far more than they know the service and legacy sides. I am going to take the article about SOROR Alexander and post that in my classroom because MY SOROR was a TRAILBLAZER, I want my students to know the WORK side of everything before they know the "PARTY" mode of the organization. That is my rant for the day.
I love the MEN of OMEGA PSI PHI and know that you all are far more than this article, but THE WORLD at large needs to know that. They need to hear the words OMEGA PSI PHI and IMMEDIATELY think ACHIEVEMENT, Ernest Just, Langston Hughes, Charles Drew, etc. etc. etc. and not hear OPP and think SHAQ.
