Yes, I can completely relate to this feeling.
I felt so sad because it wasn't just like I was leaving my undergrad KD experience....my chapter was then officially closed. This year, when I go back to Bethany for Homecoming, where am I going to stay? Delta Tau Delta is living in our house. They changed everything about it. No longer is it "our" house.
Our house might not have been the greatest, but it was ours. I had so many happy memories at that place. I'll never walk in and see all of my sisters hanging out, working on a philanthropy project, crowding into the bathrooms getting ready for a Saturday, or sitting on the balcony to greet me when I walk up the hill from class.
My best friend was the president of the house and I was VP-Membership. Each of us held our positions for two terms, so we felt it was "our" house. After commencement, we were the last two people to move out. Both of us walked around one last time, kissed each of the doors, and stepped one last time over the threshold where we had our mat that said, "Welcome Home."
Oh God...I am so sad now.
