I totally get that it might not seem like a micro-aggression, but it actually is. When someone says something like, “Every Mexican girl I’ve met has been very pretty, like you,” it reduces a group of women to a stereotype about their looks, and using “girl” instead of “woman” can come across as kind of dismissive or immature. Even if it’s meant as a compliment, it still ties beauty to ethnicity in a way that’s limiting.
