Ya know, Cheerio, actually, I don’t. I mean, I just don’t look at things like everyone else does. Weird, I know. It’s just that I’ve got this whole high standard meets smart girl energy kind of thing? — Kind of like a blend of principle and perspective.

I just think the pomp and ceremony are irrelevant when they’re used to celebrate someone whose actions and behavior contradict the basic principles of integrity and democracy. What matters isn’t the spectacle, it’s the person being elevated and what they represent. In this case, we’re talking about someone who has repeatedly lied to the public, undermined institutions, and shown blatant disregard for truth and accountability. No amount of spectacle or tradition can obscure the harm caused by normalizing such behavior. It’s not just about what we celebrate, it’s about the message we send about our collective values by voting him in and then celebrating an “inauguration”. I mean, was he even supposed to be on the ballot in the first place? That’s like, really odd.

So…. here’s an example of what I’m saying. imagine throwing a grand parade for someone who has consistently lied, raped, stolen, broken trust, and disregarded fundamental principles, would you celebrate that? It’s like hosting a lavish banquet for someone who’s caused harm and then expecting the fancy tablecloth to make it all acceptable. I mean, the pageantry doesn’t change the reality of who’s at the center of it all. I just think people need to be more thoughtful about what, and who, we’re honoring. Know what I mean?

And then, at the end of the day, Trump is just a man (a very poor excuse for one) — no more, no less. I just think that celebrating him, given his record of bragging about grabbing women’s privates, being accused of sexual assault, spreading lies, and undermining democracy, sends a dangerous message. I mean, it’s just laughable how anyone else who engages in such behavior is condemned, but somehow it’s acceptable for Donald Trump. You tell me… what kind of standard does that set? This isn’t about tradition or favoritism, it’s about whether we’re willing to excuse harmful behavior just because someone holds power or status.

And then, I’ve also lost all respect for those former presidents who chose to attend this event. Their presence lends total legitimacy to a poor excuse for a man who has consistently acted in ways that should never be normalized. And this isn’t a presidential inauguration? It’s an abomination.

Let me ask you, Cheerio. Shouldn’t we be consistent in our values, no matter who the person is?

That said, I’ve never been the type to blindly respect titles, because it’s just not who I am. To me, a title is only as meaningful as the person who holds it. It’s about the character, the values, and the actions behind the title that matter. And honestly, the title of POTUS is no exception. If someone doesn’t live up to the responsibility and integrity that a role like that demands, the title alone doesn’t earn my respect. That’s why this is not a presidential inauguration, to me. To have a presidential inauguration, we first need a president, which we do not have.

So, one my clients wanted to ask me out the other day. He noticed my ring and said, “I’m guessing you’re married, but if you weren’t, I was going to ask my veterinarian out. Every “Mexican girl” I’ve met has been very pretty, like you.” I just smiled and said, “Thanks, but I’m not Mexican. I’m actually of Mediterranean descent, and yes, I am happily married.”

It was such a random moment. But he totally assumed.
